New GFA Ex-Co to be sworn in today

The 22nd GFA Ordinary Congress will continue on Tuesday, November 10 with the swearing in of newly elected Executive Committee members high on the agenda.

The Congress which began on Monday at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence (GSCE) in Prampram, started with President’s welcome address and the Activity report for the 2013/14 year delivered by the General Secretary of the Association.

In his address, GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi congratulated the Black Queens for winning gold at the 2015 All African Games and Ashantigold and Medeama for winning the Premier League and the FA Cup respectively.

Congress unanimously accepted the audited accounts for 2013/14 after officials of the Auditor-General’s department presented their report on the GFA’s financial account.

Congress also voted on various proposals for amendments to the GFA Statutes, Regulations, General Regulations, Disciplinary Code and FA Cup Regulations.

Amongst the proposals that were accepted by Congress included Article 4.2 of the Code of Ethics in the GFA Regulations which sought to reduce the number of years at the bar from 10 to 5 years for the Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Ethics Committee.

As part of Tuesday’s session of Congress, members will be grouped to discuss seven thematic areas for the GFA Strategic Business plan (2015-18).

The seven thematic areas that the group discussions will focus on are; I) Group One – Domestic Competitions II) Group Two – International Competitions III) Group Three – Training and Development IV) Group Four – Physical Infrastructure V) Group Five – Safety and Security VI) Group Six – Marketing and Sponsorship VII) Group Seven – Administration and Governance

The Congress will then come to an end after the GFA President and 19 newly elected Executive Committee members are duly sworn in later today.
