The 2024 Confederation of African Football (CAF) Awards was held in the Moroccan city of Marrakesh on Monday, December 17, 2024.
The event was graced by the President of CAF, Dr. Patrice Motsepe, the CAF executive committee, and some of the continent’s current and retired players.
Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman was crowned Footballer of the Year following his outstanding form for Italian side Atalanta and the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
The Atalanta forward saw off competition from Ivory Coast's Simon Adingra, Guinea's Serhou Guirassy, Achraf Hakimi of Morocco, and South Africa's Ronwen Williams.
The winners of the various categories were selected by a panel that includes members of CAF's technical committee, African media professionals, players, and coaches.
Overall, Nigeria won three awards at the event, with the Women's Goalkeeper of the Year award going to Chiamaka Nnadozie and Women's National Team of the Year going to Nigeria.
Ghana’s only recognition at the award ceremony came in the CAF Team of the Year category, where Mohammed Kudus made an appearance on the right wing.
