But for the intervention of the Sports Minister, Hon. Nii Lante Vanderpuye, the tenth-week encounter between Dwarfs and AshGold would have ended abruptly as match officials refused to show up for the second half of the game.

Reports from Cape Coast indicated that the center referee S.B. Bortey had refused to return for the second half of the game insisting the fans were threatening.

The Sports Minister, who was at the venue to watch the game quickly went into the dressing room to hold some talks with the center referee before he accepted to return for the game.

AshGold took the lead before the first half ended through Fuseini Nuhu but the home fans showed their displeasure in some of the decisions by the center referee.

S.B. Bortey was reported to have been hooted and booed when going for recess, hence his decision not to return for the game.

Even though Honourable Nii Lante Vanderpuye succeeded in convincing him to return for the game, the match delayed for fifteen minutes.
