Alhaji Karim Grunsah, founder and bankroller of Kumasi-based King Faisal Football Club, is blaming the departure of former Black Stars handler, Milovan Rajevac, at the doorstep of presidential aide, Nii Lante Vanderpuiye, and has advised the Ghana Football Association (GFA) not to continue with its search for a new coach but should rather compel the Presidential aide to find a replacement for the Senior National Team.

Mr. Grunsah claims that when the Black Stars were eliminated from the 2010 FIFA World Cup tourney at the quarter-final stage; Nii Lante Vanderpuije threatened to go on demonstration if the GFA does not go for a Ghanaian coach for the Black Stars.

Alhaji Grunsah, who is revered for his exceptional youth development and is even credited with the rise to fame of former national stars including Samuel Osei Kuffour, Bashiru Gambo, Ibrahim Tanko and Adu Tutu Skelley, further alleges that the coach was so terrified by Nii Lante Vanderpuiye’s threats and tantrums that he decided to leave the shores of Ghana for him (Vanderpuiye).

He also dismissed speculations that the 56-year-old Serbian left for a more lucrative deal with oil-rich two-time Saudi Arabia league champions Al Ahli.

“… so if the GFA will share in my opinion, they should leave it for him (Vanderpuije) to bring a coach…it is every coach’s dream to coach a national team so no coach will leave a national team to coach a local team (no matter the money involved),” he surmised.

The outspoken King Faisal founder said he had always backed Coach Milovan Rajevac and so had wanted to personally question him about reports linking him away from Ghana, but was pre-occupied with the Salah festivities so much so that by the time he was “ready to speak to him, it was too late and he (Rajevac) had left.”
