The Head of the Technical Committee at the Ghana Football Association, Ben Koufie says that none of the players in the local Black Stars team deserve a place in the full Black Stars set up.
“For me none of them deserve a place in the team. I have seen them play and they will not command a place on the full team. We cannot single it out and say this player has been excellent so we need to include him. They have done well as a team but individually no. Konadu has done an excellent job, but to say somebody should be called for the Black Stars proper I will confidently say no.”
Koufie advised that the members of the Local Black Stars should not be rushed into the full team, noting that the players should be properly groomed before such a move is made.
“We have to groom them. We should not rush them but rather try to build them up so that when they get there we will all benefit.”
There have been calls for the inclusion of at least two players from the local Black Stars team after their impressive performance in the ongoing tournament.
Notable among them is Kwabena Adusei and goalkeeper Stephen Adams who have excelled in the tournament.
It will be recalled that even Black Stars head coach Kwesi Appiah has backed Yahaya Mohammed to make it into the proper Black Stars team.
