No Favours for Chiefs - Kotoko

DEFENDING Vodacom Challenge Cup champions Kaizer Chiefs were warned yesterday not to expect any favours from Asante Kotoko of Ghana on Sunday.

This stern warning came from George Amoako, the MD of the club, who introduced Abeci Sarfo, Fuseni Asamp, Joe Sam, Godwin Asroty and Thomson Williams as the five players "who will cause havoc".

Chiefs, who earned R1m after edging the Ghanaians via penalties in last year's final in Durban, will face the same opponents in the second semifinal at the Mmabatho Stadium in Rustenburg at 3pm.

"Our team was in between seasons last year and that forced us to bring a weaker side. We are going to take the trophy to Ghana this time," said Amoako.

But Doctor Khumalo, who is deputising for Chiefs head coach Mushin Ertugral, was unfazed.

"Jabu Pule will swallow all of them," he promised. "The boy did not get a chance to show his mettle in the World Cup last month and I believe he will be there to showcase his fullest potential."

Orlando Pirates face an unknown St Loi Lupopo of the Democratic Republic Congo in the first semifinal at 12.30pm.

Victor Kusonga, Lupopo MD, warned yesterday: "We brought the best of our players to take the trophy to Congo."
