The National Sports Authority (NSA) says it has nothing to do with the maintenance of the Accra Sports Stadium pitch.

Disclosing this to the media in Accra, the Director General of the NSA , Mr. Joe Kpengey said there is an existing contract between the Ministry of Youth and Sports and Green Grass Technology who are supposed to ensure that the pitch is always in a good shape.

“People mistakenly blame the NSA as far as the state of the playing field is concerned, but we have nothing whatsoever to do with that,” he stated.

He added that it is the duty Green Grass Technology to ensure that the facility is well managed and could meet its purpose at all times.

Until the contract is over he said, the NSA has no hand in the maintenance of the pitch at the Stadium, and the right people must be held responsible.

“We, on our part, would do everything possible to ensure the development of sports in the country, and we need the support of stakeholders to do so,” he stressed.

According to him, the NSA as the administrative body of sports in the country would continue to perform its duties to the fullest.

The NSA has recently come under several criticisms from the public concerning the poor state of the playing field.

Some Black Stars players have also complained of sustaining injuries playing on the national pitch in Accra.

The likes of Kevin-Prince Boateng and Akwesi Appiah have traced their injuries to the bad state of the Accra Sports Stadium.
