The Black Stars will receive no additional bonus to the already agreed amount even if they defeat the Harambees Stars in Nairobi. Ghana's Liaison Team communications director Dan Kwaku Yeboah says government will not improve winning bonuses of the Black Stars for the game against Kenya in the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Coach Kwesi Appiah named a 21-man squad this week for the first leg in Nairobi on September 8, which was followed by reports that each player would receive additional $2,000 if they defeat the Harambees Stars.

"There is no special bonus for the Black Stars ahead of the game against Kenya. The players are aware that they will be given $5,000 as winning bonus and have agreed to it so there will be no increment," Yeboah told Otec FM.

"The government wants to cut down expenditures in all sectors of our economy and football isn't exceptional. Moreover, no player will be paid in dollars, rather they will receive their bonuses and per diem in cedi equivalent to avoid pressure on the economy.

"In spite of the decisions taken, we believe the players will be professional on the field and fight hard so that the country can qualify," he added

Ghana, who are leaders of Group F with three points, two above Kenya, will camp in Ethiopia between September 1 and 7 ahead of the game.
