Deputy Minister for Works and Housing, Eugene Boakye Antwi has debunked reports that government intentionally closed down two pro-NDC radio stations to frustrate the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The National Communication Authority (NCA) has closed down Radio Gold and Radio XYZ for operating without valid authorisations.
Mr Boakye Antwi who doubles as the Member of Parliament for Subin constituency, contributing to a panel discussion on Peace FM's morning show 'Kokrokoo' said "it is not the wish of anybody to close down radio stations, but we must allow the law to work. If the radio stations do what they are supposed to do, nobody will be able to close them down. It is not that government wants to stifle freedom of speech or aim at closing radio stations."
Even though he described the closure as unfortunate, he added that "the affected radio stations should do the needful".
