Former Chief Executive officer of AshantiGold SC, Frederick Acheampong has stated that his decision to quit his role at the Obuasi-based club will not affect his position as an Executive Council Member of the Ghana Football Association.
According to the renowned journalist who resigned from his duties with the Obuasi based club yesterday, you only need the nomination of a club before you can contest the GFA elections but once you are elected your club affiliations doesn’t matter because you won’t be representing any club on the council.
In an interview with Kumasi based Kessben FM, Frederick educated people who think that his absence from the Ashantigold SC hierarchy will affect his job at the Ghana Football Association.
“Let me explain this to you. No one represents clubs at the Executive Council. The requirement is that you get a club to send you there to be eligible for voting. In Congress, for example, AshantiGold is asked to bring two representatives and I am not one of them. When I am at the Executive council, I do not represent AshantiGold.”
“Kurt Okraku is the president of the GFA and as such he does not represent Dreams FC. It is only during qualifications for voting that you would have to be associated with a club.”
“Even now, I have resigned from AshantiGold. During another election, Berekum Chelsea can decide to nominate me to contest,” he concluded.
