Accra, April 8, GNA - Number one seed of the on - going 12.1 million cedi Juvita Tennis Open Championship, Patrick Nortey braced to the finals of the men's division on Thursday when he defeated Edmund Quarcoo in their semi final game played at the centre court of the Accra Sports Stadium.

Nortey who has so far lived to the pre tournament hype, displaced Quarcoo with a deserving 6-2, 6-3 win to book the first ticket to the finals billed for Saturday April 10.

The uncompromising encounter, which lasted over an hour, saw occasional complaints from Quarcoo, apparently claiming of being cheated by the empire. The game lacked fluency, power and excitement by the two Osu-based boys as they gave their vociferous fans little to cheer about.

Nortey, however, rode on his ability to land accurate strokes coupled with his good calculative returns to win most of the points during the exchanges.

Nortey will however have to wait till Friday to determine who his next opponent will be as the second game between Daniel Fumi and enterprising Michael Nortey Jnr was rained off.

Nortey Jnr before the rains set in had won the first set while Fumi was also leading the second set before the downpour and the duo will continue the game on Friday to determines who meets Nortey Snr.

The enthusiastic tennis lovers are already anticipating an all Nortey brotherhood finals on Saturday.

In the girls division, the game between Antoinette Cruckshank and Winneba-based Mariam Hamidu which was left with the last set to go, was also rained off.

Cruckshank who lost the first set came in strongly in the second set subjecting the number one seed, Hamidu to commit various unforced errors though she was trilling the latter 3-2 before the rains.
