Former GFA Chairman Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe insists he will not relent on his continued call for national team selectors to invite much younger players into the Black Stars.

Assessing the performance of Kwasi Appiah since the former national team captain assumed the tough job as coach of the Black Stars, former Army doctor Nyaho-Tamakloe commended Appiah for new additions as Christian Atsu of FC Porto and Juventus youngster Richmond Boakye Yiadom.

But he wants it become the norm under Appiah who has supervised one victory and a loss in two 2014 World Cup qualifications games thus far.

“The most important thing is to win and to win I believe he will need young players to do it. My main worry is that we are not using young people a lot and the GFA President has confirmed it himself that we need a lot of young players in the Black Stars to win trophies,” Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe has told 90 MINUTES exclusively.

He explains: “I think the coach needs to step up his work. He should not rely on old players, he should make sure he fields the young players. We have young players who are good and will do really well for the Black Stars. I believe we will only win if we use young players. When you use young people, you get the best from them as athletes Nyaho, also former Chairman of Premier League hotshots Hearts of Oak, continued: “The result against China was not bad but he must improve the team with young people, that is what every team is doing now. That’s what even Manchester United are doing and their great goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel was in town and he said the same thing.”Credit:
