Nyaho Tamakloe slams Takyi & Schlupp invitations

Former Ghana Football Association president Dr Nyaho Tamakloe says the Ghana Football Association have been too quick to hand out calls to Charles Takyi and Jeffery Schlupp, especially in the wake of Kevin-Prince Boateng's dramatic retirement from international football.

Boateng claimed last week he was quitting international football to concentrate on his club career after only nine games with Ghana that included five matches at the 2010 World Cup.

The decision has not only angered many Ghanaians, but has also led to a new debate about whether the country should continue to encourage players with similar backgrounds to represent the Black Stars.

Tamakloe reckons those players are gaining priority over others. “The basic reason why he [Goran Stevanovic] was brought in here is to be able to identify talent, train them and use them in the Black Stars,” he told JoySports.

“This craze of always looking for players this country who have not been trained here, who even though are Ghanaians by birth but have different cultural backgrounds will not work for this country. The Kevin-Prince Boateng case is a perfect example.”
