President of the Ghana Football Association Kwesi Nyantakyi has explained the infamous 'do well' statement he made at a press conference about a month ago.
"Let me quickly take this opportunity to explain the 'do well' statement I made a couple of weeks ago. I made that statement with reference to the limited time the coach has before the start of the African Cup Of Nation," Mr. Nyantakyi told www.sports24gh.com
"Because it will be unrealistic to put pressure on the coach to win the cup looking at the circumstance but if he does well and bring the trophy so be it because winning the cup is not out of our sight," he added.
The FA President asked Ghanaians far and near to say a prayer or two for the Black Stars ahead of the upcoming tournament.
The team is currently based in Spain preparing for the tournament but will fly to Equatorial Guinea next week to play their first match against Senegal on January 19.
Ghana is in group C with Africa's best performer at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, Algeria, Senegal, and South Africa.
