Ghana FA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi admits he is gutted by the decision of Sepp Blatter to resign his post as President of FIFA.

The 79-year-old in a dramatic turn of events in the ensuing corruption allegations that has rocked FIFA announced his resignation just under a week of winning a fresh four-year mandate.

Blatter will however remain as President of FIFA in the interim before his successor emerges from an extraordinary congress of the world football governing body.

News of Blatter’s resignation came as a massive shock especially after showing resilience in his rejection to pleas to quit his post at the eruption of bribery and corruption allegations by US and Swiss authorities.

Ghana FA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi who belonged to the CAF regional block that pledged its staunch support for Sepp Blatter in last week’s elections admits he was left shell-shocked and disappointed by the decision.

“A big disappointment and it came as a surprise,” Nyantakyi said on Metro TV’s Good Evening Ghana.

“He won the elections less than a week ago and I didn’t know what had changed fundamentally since then to make him take this decision.”

Blatter has been President of FIFA since 1998 and won a fresh fifth four-year term in last week’s congress – a term that is set to end prematurely by Blatter’s decision.
