The recent feud between the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Ministry of Youth and Sports is down to insecurity on the part of Kwesi Nyantakyi, the President of the GFA, regarding his position, Member of Parliament for Asante Akyem North, Kwadwo Baah Agyemang, has stated.

According to him, Mr Nyantakyi had heard of a plot by some people within the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) to frustrate his administration because they do not want him to be president of the FA.

Speaking in an interview with Class Sports, Mr Baah Agyemang said: “I have spoken to Kwesi Nyantakyi on this issue and it seems he is hearing some comments that there is a cabal around this present government that doesn’t want him to be the FA president. It has not been today; it started from 2009 and that he was even reported to the late Prof Evans Atta Mills. So some big people within the National Democratic Congress came to his aid, they spoke to Prof, and he was allowed to work. So there is a history to whatever is happening to today.”

He added that the feud was generally taking its toll on the performance of the national teams.

“The signs are on the wall, and it started from the Under 20 when we played in Cape Coast. Not everything is said on air, but if the FA and the Ministry dealt well with operations, Ghana would have qualified for the competition,” he noted.
