Ghana Football Association President Kwesi Nyantakyi on Wednesday made a short visit to the Central Region to open a new office funded in part by the Regional Football Association and the GFA at a cost of GH¢150,000.00.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the seven-room block at the Robert Mensah Stadium in Cape Coast, the GFA president underlined the importance of infrastructure to the football association and commended Ex.Co member, M.N.S. Doe and his executives in the region for the work done. The office spaces will cater for retired footballers, juvenile football, players, women’s football and technical and development coaches and a general office.

The Central Region RFA have also handed over a lavatory for one of the stands at the stadium for use by supporters during league matches at the centre.

“I am honoured to be here to open this administrative block. It is an outstanding step by the Regional Football Association and all its stakeholders,” Kwesi Nyantakyi said.

“I wish to congratulate all who have contributed to this noble project. Let’s ensure we maintain it properly and use it to the greater benefit of football.” For the RFA, it’s the first part of their development works to serve their operations.

“We are grateful for the support given by the GFA. The GFA gave us the seed capital to start the project as we also had support from a philanthropist, Dr Taylor and from our own funds,” Mr Doe said.

“We hope to complete another project at the same site which will comprise other office blocks.”

The GFA president also held a meeting with the RFA leadership and addressed concerns about football development in the region as his counterparts also shared ideas on the promotion of the game.
