Nyantakyi will not run for FA presidency in 2019 – reports

Asempanews.com can confirm that president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Kwesi Nyantakyi will not contest for the association’s presidency in 2019.

According to grapevine sources, Nyantakyi’s ambition of getting to the top hierarchy of CAF and FIFA, is what is informing his decision not to stand for the GFA presidency in 2019.

Nyantakyi is rumoured to be in line to be nominated as a Vice to the new CAF president Dr. Ahmad Ahmad, and also his quest is to move up the ranks in FIFA, is what his urging him on.

Meanwhile, many possible replacements are in line to take up the post when and if Nyantakyi leaves office.

Current vice president of the GFA, George Afriyie is highly tipped to take Nyantakyi’s place when he leaves.

But others like Fred Pappoe, Randy Abbey, Herbert Mensah, Kurt Okraku and Kojo Addae Mensah of Databank are all likely to contest the GFA top job, when Nyantakyi decides to relinquish his seat.

Those opposing Nyantakyi have been making frantic efforts to see him resign his post, but he has refused to do so, with the claim that anyone who wants to see him out, must come and contest him.

Nyantakyi was voted into power in 2005 and has been at the helm of Ghana football for the past twelve years, wining every FA election till date.
