Barrack Kwakye Obama, the reigning champion at Ghana’s Strongest 2014, has retained his title at the just-ended season IV challenge held at the forecourt of TV3 last weekend.

He scored 15 points, taking home GHc12,000. Courage Adokope came second with 13 points and received GHc6000, Ahmed Adjei received GHc5000 for placing third while Michael Bossman received GHc4000 for fourth place.

Four contestants Michael Bossman, Ahmed Adjei, Courage Adokope and Barack Kwakye Obama entered the grande finale.

The contestants were taken through four challenges, namely Giant Power Stairs where each contestant had to lift a log weighing 90kg plus 2kegs each weighing 23kg. In the second session each lifted a stone (Ghana Stone) weighing 130 kg within 60 seconds over 60 metres.

In the third challenge which is Truck Pull, the contestants took turns to pull a truck weighing three tonnes within 90 seconds.

The other engagements were Medley and Lua Lua.

In an interview with DAILY GUIDE SPORTS, Barrack Kwakye Obama said he was happy to take the title for the second time, adding that he was well prepared to keep it even in the next two seasons.

Barrack Obama, who is a level 300 student of Kings University College, added that he would be taking part later this year in a Power Lifting competition in Germany.

Dan Badu, Commissioner for Ghana’s Strongest IV, congratulated the contestants for their team spirit which he said was very good this time around.

The explained that Ghana’s Strongest was a sport set to prepare contestants for the business market.

He averred that being strong had far more economic benefits than the current perception where people end up being land guards or engage in some mischief.
