Odartey Lamptey, 2 Others Dropped

Nii Lamptey

The Afranie led Technical team of Kumasi Asante Kotoko has dropped former Ghanaian International, Nii Odartey Lamptey alongside two others, Nigerian striker Haruna Iddrisu and former Okwahu United?s Issaka Ibrahim from Kotoko?s Africa squad list.

The three have been replaced with RTU?s Toufik Alolo, Osei Kwame Junior and Imbola Sanje respectively.

Sources indicate that Odartey and the two others who were originally part of the squad had their names withdrawn by the technical team with a letter to CAF through the Ghana Football Association.

Reasons for their withdrawal is not yet known but it is believed it was a pure technical discretion exercised by the head coach, Emmanuel Kwesi Afranie. The move is likely to demoralize Nii Odartey Lamptey in particular who might be forced by circumstances not to renew his contract with Kotoko upon expiration.

In a related development, although Kotoko has two more places left on their list, their young and enterprising defender, William Thompson is yet to be registered for Africa likewise injured striker Nasiru Ghani, whose fate hangs in a balance.
