Ex-Ghana international Nii Odartey Lamptey is backing Kumasi Asante coach Maxwell Konadu to be appointed as the assistant coach of the Black Stars.
Odartey Lamptey, who played in Ghana's Olympic bronze medal winning squad of 1992 with Konadu in Barcelona, told Accra-based Pravda radio that Konadu has the credentials to become the second in command of the national team after his achievements with Asante Kotoko among other clubs so far.
''Watch Maxwell Konadu and where he is coming from-Red Bull, Wa All Stars and the Asante Kotoko. Now, if he can be appointed the Black Stars assistant coach, why not?. I always say that we all have to start from somewhere''.
Maxwell Konadu is expected to meet the Ghana Football Association for talks.
He guided Asante Kotoko to win its 22nd league title on Sunday after they drew 0-0 with Berekum Arsenal in Kumasi.
