Hearts of Oak coach Edward Nii Odoom has insisted that he has a strong team enough to compete in Africa inter-clubs competitions should conditions allow it.

Odoom who was appointed as interim coach following the sacking of Kim Grant after their 1-0 loss to Berekum Chelsea in the Ghana Premier League opener this season says his team is ready to compete in the CAF inter-clubs competition

Hearts of Oak has struggled for consistency and are currently 8th on the premiership standings after fourteen rounds of matches.

The Ghana Premier League season has been on a halt since 15 March 2020 due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Speaking to Happy FM on the preparedness of competing in Africa should opportunity avail itself, Odoom responded positively.

“When it is about playing in Africa, my team is ready but we cannot play because of COVID-19,” he said.

“But the conditions around the coronavirus pandemic can’t make us play in Africa.

“This is because you wouldn’t know the actual conditions in the country you are going to play in. You have to ensure that everyone is safe.”

Hearts of Oak have not played in continental competitions since 2015 where they succumbed to Esperance de Tunis in the play-off round of the CAF Confederation Cup.
