Kumasi, Jan 5, GNA - Eric Odumase, the pride of the Ashanti Region has predicted a knockout over Simon Peter Mcintosh in their West Africa Super Lightweight championship title fight scheduled for Kumasi on Saturday.
"Mcintosh is a seasoned and experienced boxer but age is no longer on his side and I will therefore teach him a baxing lesson", he said. Speaking to the GNA Sports in Kumasi on Wednesday during a workout at his base at Dichemso, Odumase warned rasta-haired Mcintosh to come out to box clean as he (Odumase) was aware of all the tricks Mcintosh could exhibit in the ring to frustrate his opponents.
Sikaprix International Syndicate is promoting the title fight alongside two other title fights to be staged at the Prempeh College Assembly hall to serve as a tonic to the second leg final Confederation Cup match between Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak on Sunday.
There will be six supporting bouts in addition to two other title fights on the night, which is designed to rekindle interest in professional boxing in the "Garden City".
The two title fights involve Braimah "Bukom Banku" Kamako who will engage good old Sugar Ray Akwei for the West Africa Light-Heavyweight title in a 12-round fray whilst Mariano Commey will take on Kojo Issah for the National Middleweight title in another 12 rounds fight. Odumase will not predict the rounds in which he would knock out his opponent but said, "After I have exhausted all the energy in the Nigerian talkative, then the opportunity will present itself for the knockout".
He therefore called on his supporters to turn out early enough in their numbers at the boxing hall on Saturday to cheer him to victory, adding that he would definitely dethrone Mcintosh and take away the title.
Among the dignitaries expected to watch the fights would include Barima Azumah Nelson and other sporting personalities.
