Greek giants Panathinaikos have strenuously denied widespread reports claiming their Ghanaian midfielder Michael Essien has suffered a fresh injury, which could rule him out of action until December.

Reports emerged in the European country on Thursday that the 32-year-old has suffered a serious relapse and will sit out until at least December.

The heightened reports have forced the Greek powerhouse to water down on the mounting claims in the media, insisting the former Chelsea star’s injury is not as serious as being reported.

“The program of” green “was warming up, passes and transition games in small spaces,” a club statement read

“Essien and Kotsaris trained individually but nothing serious to report. There are no complications in the matter. The players will practice tomorrow (Thursday).

Essien trained alone on Monday but has since not been involved, to spark talks about the seriousness of the reported latest injury.

According to Greek portal sports 24, the Ghana international underwent surgery and observation at the Metropolitan hospital this week after suffering a fresh injury at training.

According to the reports, even though officials of the Greek giants are in self-denial, Essien has been diagnosed with bruising of second grade and will be sidelined until at least December.

The career of the famous Ghanaian midfielder has been rocked by persistent injuries amid fears he may not return to his best again.

Essien has endured more injury hell since joining the Greek giants from AC Milan as he is yet to play in a competitive game.

The former Chelsea midfielder has serious fitness concerns with no clear signs of recovery in sight.

The comeback trail of the former Chelsea star appears to be clouded as he struggles to shake off knee and groin problems.

Essien has notoriously been cursed by injuries over the years with no end in sight to the troubles that has affected his form and stature in world football.
