Olympiakos received a "double" hurt in their attacking line early Thursday morning (11/16). After Peter Ofori Quaye's knee injury in the derby against Panathinaikos, Gabriel Alves's training session knee injury was deemed as serious as well. Both players underwent knee surgeries on Thursday (11/16) by club doctor Christos Darras and they will be sidelined for at least a month.

This hurts Olympiakos coach, Yiannis Matzourakis, even more since next week the Greek champions will be facing English club Liverpool for their third round first leg game in the UEFA Cup competition. Other than Ofori Quaye and Alves who have won starting line-up positions with the club these past few weeks Andreas Niniadis is also on the injured list as well. Matzourakis will also not have Ze Elias or Paraskevas Antzas who have been banned by UEFA.
