Ofori wins Tameklo Memorial Golf

Accra, Nov. 11, GNA-Charles Ofori, a member of the Achimota Golf Club returned a net score of 64, to win the Sixth Annual K.N. Tameklo Memorial Golf Championship played at the Achimota Golf Course in Accra on Saturday.

Ofori, who is the Chief Executive Officer of the SDC Brokerage Services Limited, played 48 Back and 38 Front with a Handicap of 20, and will be playing to a new Handicap of 18.


He was followed by Kwaku Tettedzie with 67 net, S. Toffa placed third with 69 net, beating Godwin Sai and Theophilus Gouvinus on count-back while Geoff Fisher took the sixth position with 70 net.


Joy Arkutu came first in the Ladies encounter with 70 net by beating Beatrice Vetcshe-Bempong on count-back, Esther Amedzro took the third position with 73 net while Mona Captan placed fourth with 74 net.


Dawuda Mahama won the Professionals category with 72 gross, Robert Aziamakpor and Stephen Klah placed second with 73 gross while Robert Degbe took the fourth position with 76 gross.

The one-day 18-Hole event opened to amateur and professional golfers attracted about 120 participants.


The competition was played in memory of Dr K.N. Nyaho Tameklo, Senior member of the Achimota Golf Club and the Director of Nyaho Medical Centre who died some six years ago. Mr Mike Ezan, President of the Achimota Golf Club, praised the late Mr Tameklo through whose work the club has become what it is today.


He thanked the members of the family of the late Tameklo for sustaining the event for the past six years and called on the members to take a cue from the work of their departed colleague.
