Nkawkaw, June 7, GNA - Okwawu United on Tuesday defeated Kade Hotspurs by a lone goal in the eighth week GT Premier League match played at the Nkawkaw Park on Tuesday.
Okwawu were more purposeful at the initial stages of the game with their new found British coach David Taylor giving instructions from the touchline. Hotspurs warmed themselves into the game and wasted a chance in the 20th minute when their central defender and skipper of the side, Nii Noi Dowuona shot off target with only the goalkeeper to beat.
Okwawu took the lead in the 43rd minute when outside left Aminu Ayuba's header beat Hotspurs goalkeeper, Alex Agyepong in a goalmouth melee. Okwawu should have increased the scores in the second half after making three substitutions but the attackers wasted three scoring chances in the 65th, 84th and 86th minutes when substitute Fauruk Adam and centre forward Ernest Owusu shot off target.
Hotspurs made frantic efforts at the dying minutes of the game in search of the much needed equaliser but the Okwawu defenders led by Kwame Antwi fouled all their efforts at goal.
