Accra, Feb. 22, GNA - The Chairman of Okwawu United Football Club, Mr Francis Amon has called on the supporters to champion the cause of unity and support the club to enable it regain its premiership status. Mr Amon said unity plays a very important role in every aspect of life and without it no nation, association or club can make any progress. The Chairman who made the call at a fundraising rally in Accra on Saturday, said the situation where supporters were at each other's throat do not augur well for the smooth administration and development of the Club.

Mr Amon therefore urged the supporters to unite and work harder than before to enable the club gain promotion to the elite division next season. He said the impressive performance put up by the club in a series of friendly matches recently against Hearts of Oak, Asante Kotoko and Bechem Chelsea attest to the fact that the club was on course and that management would do everything possible to ensure promotion of the Club. Mr Amon said the club has plans to ensure it only registers players residing in the Okwawu area to avoid players absenting themselves from training adding that this is not to say that the club was being tribalistic.

The Chairman said the Club has so far registered 33 players out of whom 16 are residents of Okwawu. Mr Amon appealed to the members to pay their dues regularly to support the financial base of the Club.
