Wigan Coach, Roberto Martinez, plans to leave SEVEN of his players sweating over their futures this Christmas, including Ghana keeper Richard "Olele" Kingston.

The worried players are all out of contract in the summer and the Wigan boss is refusing to hold talks at the moment.

Kingston is joined on the list by notables Paul Scharner, £5million capture Jason Koumas and Swedish international Erik Edman.

Back-up keeper Mike Pollitt and captain Mario Melchiot as well as Dutch winger Rachid Bouaouzan will also tuck into the turkey this year anxious about their careers.

Martinez said: "We've got seven players out of contract at the end of the season.

"It's important we stay in the Premier League so between next month and February everyone will know what their personal situation is.

"Obviously, it's important that everyone understands where the club stands with their positions."

Kingston has struggled to impress the Spanish coach since taking over the club last season and he is yet to play a competitive match this season.

The African Cup of Nations is a perfect oppotunity for Kingston to put himself on the transfer market for interested clubs.

Kingston is the undisputed first choice keeper for the Black Stras and a good performance at the tournament could attract clubs in Europe. source:soccernet
