Former U.S. President Donald Trump has promised to prevent males from participating in female sporting events if he is re-elected.
He has expressed concerns that the inclusion of transgender athletes in women's sports is damaging to the integrity of these competitions and needs to be addressed.
Known for his strong stance on this issue, the Republican presidential candidate seeking re-election has reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that such situations are eliminated from sports.
"I will make sure that men are kept out of women's sports," Trump wrote on social media, as reported by The Telegraph.
He made these comments after Angela Carini withdrew from her bout against Algerian boxer Imane Khelif, who is alleged to be transgender, at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
Carini ended the fight just 46 seconds in after receiving the first punch. Khelif landed two heavy punches in the opening round, which seemed to have injured Carini's chin.
Carini threw her helmet down and broke into tears as her coaches entered the ring to comfort her. Khelif was declared the winner after Carini chose to withdraw.
Khelif's participation in the Olympics has sparked controversy, with many criticizing the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for allowing him to compete.
Along with Taiwanese boxer Lin Yu Ting, Khelif is one of the two transgender boxers cleared to compete at the Olympics.
