Ho, Oct 16, GNA - Accra Great Olympics on Sunday held Power FC to a 1-1 drawn game at the Ho Sports Stadium in their One-Touch Premier League encounter.
The result is the second home draw for Power FC, and as usual they found it tough penetrating the defence of Olympics throughout the game. Power came close to scoring in the eighth minute but Ibrahim Salifu in posts for Olympics stretched to his elastic best to save a curling free kick from Quao Daniel.
Another chance came their way in the 19th minute but striker Kofi Emmanuel missed the target narrowly with a header. Olympics gradually woke up from their slumber after the 20th minute, playing a concentrated game which paid for them when in the 22nd minute Andy Pomeyie headed in a long cross from team mate Kwasi Nicholas for the opener.
After the recess, both teams came back determined to carry the day but lacked the bite upfront to connect home. Olympics came close to increasing the tally in the 70th minute but substitute Kwasi Bonsu fired off target after beating Lawrence Quaye in posts for Power.
Power raised the tempo of their game forcing Olympics to defend their goal area solidly with keeper Salifu and his men at the defence thwarted all the dangerous moves.
As the pressure increased, Power's substitute Nii Ayi Tetteh tapped in the ball in the 82nd minute in a goalmouth melee for the much needed equaliser to the relief of the vociferous supporters of Power. Olympics tried to grab the three points stake at all cost as they launched a last minute attack in the dying minutes the game but a number of clear chances either hit the bar or the side netting to end the proceedings at par.
