…..Promises to produce another magic
After leading Tudu based Division One League side Mighty Jets to qualify for this season’s Middle League, young coach Isaac Boateng, known in football circles as ‘Opeele’ has moved to head the technical bench of Premier League side Sekondi Hasaacas.
Opeele, whose official duty begins today, February 20th, after been confirmed last Friday by management of the club, will be in charge for the team’s seven remaining matches of the on-going Onetouch Premiership with the current coach, De-Graft being his assistant.
Speaking in an interview with Guide Sports last Sunday before Hasaacas 3-1 thrashing over Dansoman based Liberty Professionals at the Sekondi Gyandu Park, coach Opeele, who had his coaching career in Britain, promised to produced the magic that he did with Mighty Jets that saw the Division One club finishing as winners of the Zone 3A above Okwawu United to qualify for this year’s National Middle League.
“Now that I have joined the Sekondi lads, I hope to continue the coaching magic that I did with Mighty Jets, that saw the team winning over ninety per cent of our group matches” he said.
“For now, my main aim is to help the team finish among the first four clubs on the league table thereby qualifying to participate in the next African Club Championship” he added.
Asked why he abandoned the Tudu lads after securing qualification to the Middle League, he said, the package offered by Sekondi Hasacas was too good to reject especially considering the fact that they are also a determined side participating in the elite division of Ghanaian soccer.
He however extended his sincere thanks to the entire management of Tudu Mighty Jets especially its chairman Alhaji Abu Sundoko and the playing body for offering him a very cordial working relationship during his stay with the team. “In fact I must thank officials of Mighty Jets for how well they related to me during my stay with the club especially Alhaji Abu Sundoko, who was like a father to me providing almost everything that the club needed to secure qualification and its my prayer that they qualify for the Premiership next season” he said.
Currently occupying the ninth position on the Premier League table with twenty-nine points after twenty-three rounds of matches played, officials of the Sekondi club have promised to offer the coach a three-year contract should he perform to the club’s satisfaction after the end of the season.
In a related development, officials of Mighty Jets, remains adama nt that the departure of coach Opeele will not in any way affect their Premiership campaign since plans are far advanced to secure the services of a top class coach to lead the club in the Middle League.
Mighty Jets have been paired alongside Abedi Pele’s F/C Nania and former Premiership sides Okwawu United and Great Mariners, out of which the winner after three rounds of marches, will qualify for the Premiership.
