Accra, May 21, GNA - Optimum Media Prime (OMP) - a marketing agency on Thursday, launched broadcast of Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) 2009 Soccer Events in Ghana. Under the initiative, a consortium of three television stations, have been given the rights to broadcast live, four soccer events of FIFA.

The stations made up of Ghana Television (GTV), TV3 and Metropolitan Television (Metro TV), will broadcast to the nation the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup in South Africa, 2009 FIFA World Under-17 and the U-20 Soccer Tournaments in Nigeria and Egypt respectively as well as the 2009 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE). The three TV stations are expected reach a maximum of 15 million viewers across the country during the coverage of the four events. Similar arrangements have been made for the 2010 Soccer Events to be organized by FIFA with the World Cup scheduled in South Africa as the flagship event.

Nii Nortey Duah, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports who launched the event in Accra commended the three stations for pooling their resources together to achieve a common cause. He, however, noted that Ghana's qualification to the World Cup in South Africa remains a primary concern to the Ministry and the governments; hence all efforts are being made to ensure the participation of the team in the competition. Nii Dua added that the absence of the Black Stars at the World Cup will not make the coverage an exciting tournament and called on the Agency and its three partners to contribute towards the qualification of the Stars to the competition.

Mr Ken Ashiegbey, General Manager of OMP said the formation of the consortium will reduce the stress that corporate bodies go through to become sponsors of major events. He said OMP will therefore provide a one stop solution to corporate bodies who are interested in being part of the 2009 and 2010 FIFA Soccer Events.

Mr Ashiegbey said his outfit is bent on giving corporate bodies attractive packages that will ensure an enhanced interaction with Ghanaian soccer fans and patrons.
