Osam Duodu reacts to removal from Black Stars

Coach Osam Duodu, out-going head-coach of the senior national soccer team, the Black Stars, has expressed shock and dismay at the manner in which he was relieved of his post -- made known to him only through the media.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency GNA in an exclusive interview at Cape Coast on Friday, Mr Duodu stressed that the move constituted an unfair treatment meted out to him by the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

"I do not like the way I am being pushed around; they have stabbed me in the back again. At least, I deserve some respect." He said the GFA appointed him to handle the team and if a new coach had been appointed to replace him, the appropriate channel should have been used to inform him just like the way he was appointed.

"I only heard the news on the radio and read it from the newspapers, which I think is unfair." Mr Duodu said since he assumed duty about three months ago, he had not been paid for the services he had rendered.

He said he was also surprised to hear the Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr Enoch Teye Mensah, claim, he was not aware of the new appointment neither does the General Secretary of the FA, Worlanyo Agra, nor some members of the Executive Board.

He said if they wanted to terminate his appointment, a board meeting should have been held or a written order issued to indicate such a decision. Mr Duodu said he liked the choice of Jones Attuquayefio, who has been appointed to replace him but insisted that the right channel should have been used.

"Jones is a good coach and a friend who sought advice from me and vice versa". Asked if he would take any action against the GFA, he said he had not yet decided on what to do.

The Graphic Sports, a bi-weekly newspaper, carried on its front-page of the Friday, November 10 issue, the appointment of Jones Attuquayefio, head coach of Accra Hearts of Oak, as the new coach of the Black Stars.

Until his replacement, Osam Duodo has been handling the Black Stars since he took over when the position became vacant with the exit of former Italian caoch Guissepe Dossena
