GFA Executive Committee member, Winfred Osei Kweku Palme
Ghana Football Association (GFA)’s Executive Committee member, Winfred Osei Kweku Palmer has apologised to the FA for comments he made that, Ghana have been paying bribes to referees in the previous FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The Tema Youth owner rendered the apology on Accra based radio station, Atinka FM during their Total Sports show this week. ”I, Winfred Kweku Osei Palmer popularly known as Palmer, the statement I made on paying [bribes] to referees; I render an unqualified apology to all Ghanaians, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the FA and my colleagues in the football fraternity.
“[This] will not happen again” he said.
His apology comes after the GFA’s Ethics Committee asked him to render an apology concerning his statement as he had no proof. Palmer made the statement after Ghana’s failed bid to qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup to held in Russia this year.
