Ghanaweb.com has gathered that disqualified GFA presidential hopeful, Wilfred Osei Kwaku Palmer will appeal the decision of the FA Vetting Committee to eliminate him from the race.

Osei Palmer who was seen as one of the leading candidates to win the presidential seat was on Friday disqualified. No official reasons have been given for his exclusion but Ghanaweb.com has learned his disqualification is based on ethical grounds.

The list of presidential hopefuls has thus reduced to six with the following passed; Amanda Clinton, George Ankoma Mensah, Nana Yaw Amponsah, Kurt Okraku, George Afriyie and Frederick Pappoe.

Sources close to Palmer have told Ghanaweb.com that they are calm about the news and are confident they will be successful when they appeal the decision. Palmer has up to Monday, October 7 to submit his appeal.

The news of Palmer’s disqualification comes two days after he launched his policy document in Accra, promising to raise a staggering $90.3m to fund the association if given the nod.

For the Executive Council members, all candidates who appeared before the Committee qualified. Randy Abbey, Kotoko CEO George Amoako, Hearts of Oak CEO Frederick Moore all cleared to contest the elections.

But Alhaji Fuseini Mahama and Roy Arthur have been disqualified from contesting the Regional Football Association chairperson positions.

The elections have been scheduled for October 25.
