Ace sports broadcaster, Patrick Osei Agyemang, better known as Countryman Songo, has called on Ghanaian footballers to acknowledge the significant role of the Black Stars in the successes of their careers and to show proper respect to Ghanaians.

Songo holds the view that a player's career is not truly complete until they achieve success at the national team level and that Ghanaian footballers should express gratitude to the nation for the opportunities provided to reach their goals.

On his show, 'Countryman Songo' emphasized the advantages that the Black Stars has afforded to certain players, urging the current generation to exhibit humility and thankfulness towards Ghana.

He cited examples of former Ghanaian players who experienced positive shifts in their careers after they donned the national jersey.

"When you are given the opportunity to play for Ghana, you must approach it with excitement and humility because it's a tremendous privilege. It's an honor bestowed upon you by the country, so you must show respect. The Black Stars offer you honors and international recognition that are often unattainable at the club level.

"Even if you're enjoying a successful career overseas, you might not gain recognition until you play for Ghana. The world takes notice of you. Whether your performance is stellar or not, you will gain recognition. Otto Addo played for Ghana, but not many people are aware of it because he didn't stand out for the national team. However, the Black Stars brought him fame.

"Anthony Baffoe had a solid career in Germany but wasn't well-known until he represented Ghana. It was his penalty miss against Ivory Coast that brought him into the limelight. It wasn't until he became the captain of the Black Stars that he gained widespread popularity," he explained on Adom TV.

Songo's remarks follow the controversy involving Mohammed Kudus and some Ghanaians regarding his performance in Ghana's match against the Central African Republic on July 10, 2024.

Kudus expressed his displeasure with the criticism from supporters on social media and retorted with some strong words.
