The Otumfuo at 20 commemoration match which will be played between Kumasi Asante Kotoko and a yet-to-be-announced Spanish club will be preceded by an under-20 cup tournament, the organizers, Platinum Events Productions Africa have announced.

The tournament which will be launched on Saturday, November 3, 2018, in Kumasi is expected to feature 120 teams with the final set to be the curtain raiser for the much-publicized Kotoko friendly.

The cup which is named after the main and paramount Nkwanwasoafo) Hene, Baafo) Akwasi Dabanka IV seeks to use football to foster unity among Asanteman and honour the great king.

A statement signed Senior Manager of the company, Vincent Asiamah states; In an interesting twist, the tournament is not only opened for professional clubs across Asanteman (Ashanti region and other areas whose royal hierarchy pays homage to Asantehene and Asanteman Council) but includes or is opened to Community formed Teams, locally referred to as “Fr3fr3k)bo” in the Asante – Twi.

More interestingly, past students of known Asanteman Alumni schools will be allowed to compete for the enviable trophy.

ASANTEMAN UNDER 20 CUP TOURNAMENT FOR OTUMFUO @ 20 ANNIVERSARY MATCH: GIVING BACK TO THE SOCIETY IN GRAND STYLE AND CREATE.

Platinum Events Productions Africa, a member of KK Royals, under the patronage of its founder and executive Chairman, Nana Amaniapong II, Otumfuo Nkwanwasoafo) Kyeame, Hene and Boadi - Kumasi, known in private life as Nana Yaw Obiri Yeboah presents first of its kind, ASANTEMAN UNDER – 20 CUP TOURNAMENT.

A pre-event to characterize the main proposed and arranged football match between Kumasi Asante Kotoko and the prestigious club from Barcelona – Spain to celebrate and mark Otumfuo Osei Tutu II 20th Anniversary in May 2019.

The cup is named after the main and paramount Nkwanwasoafo) Hene, Baafo) Akwasi Dabanka IV with the aim to unite Asanteman and Ghana as a whole through the nation’s most loved game, football.

In an interesting twist, the tournament is not only opened for professional clubs across Asanteman (Ashanti region and other areas whose royal hierarchy pays homage to Asantehene and Asanteman Council) but includes or is opened to Community formed Teams, locally referred to as “Fr3fr3k)bo” in the Asante – Twi. More interestingly, past students of known Asanteman Alumni schools will be allowed to compete for the enviable trophy.

The tournament will be in seven (7) stages, potentially featuring over 120 teams and clubs with the final hurdle after the semifinals been the curtain – raiser for the much talked about Kumasi Asante Kotoko and the club from Spain. The biggest prize will surely be a tour to Europe by the best-selected footballers to reach the semi-finals, to play four under – 20 teams of renowned European clubs; He who shines, stays back or gets oiled and comes back with a bang !!

The tournament would be launched on Saturday 3rd November 2018 in Kumasi where all the various teams and clubs whom might have undergone the registration process which is absolutely free starts today, Wednesday 10th October 2018, will be out doored alongside the much detailed merits associated with the tournament.
