*From what I’ve seen of their two recent matches, I am now convinced and certain that good administration is no doubt doing the trick for Kumasi Asante Kotoko. It has been a long time since l saw well built Kotoko players having this big confidence playing against Accra Hearts of Oak which has eluded them for so long a time.*
The materials at the team’s disposal this time are what Kotoko have been searching for since the era of 1971 squad of Ohene Brenya, Sunday lbrahim, Osei Kofi, Clifford Odame and co. The whole department of the squad is functioning more especially the defence solidly commanded by Awal Mohamed, Kotoko could have walloped Accra Hearts of Oak by more goals had they not clearly been content with the two goals scored in the first half.
I can’t remember the last time Kotoko recorded five goals to nil in two consecutive matches. Scoring three unanswered goals against defending champions Aduana Stars who had not conceded more than two goals in a single game the whole of last season when they annexed the league trophy through to this season and following it up with two nil away to aged rivals Accra Hearts of Oak can only be attributed to good administration.
K. K. Sarpong has proven that he is the antidote that Kotoko needed long ago for their problems. Dr. Sarpong is indeed doing football business and for the first time I have seen a Ghanaian club being run professionally as North African clubs and if this persists it won’t be long for Kotoko to rule Africa again.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the revered life patron of the club has this time gotten it right at Manhyia so far as getting good administrators to handle the club is concerned. Dr.K.K. Sarpong, considering the little I have seen in his administration so far, has exposed his predecessors. He has proved to them that you can only succeed in Kotoko with commitment and love of the club as your first priority.
I was proud to see Kotoko having two sponsors’ logos on their shirt when they were beating Accra Hearts of Oak at the Ohene Djan Stadium, mighty MTN and lnterplast. The club can boast of so many sponsorship packages because Dr. K.K Sarpong has made the club more attractive that there is no way a company could refuse Kotoko an offer.
Herbert Mensah’s administration was good but in fact this current administration far exceeds what Herbert did, King Edward of Hello FM can prove me wrong. It’s just unfortunate that Kotoko’s recovery came this late because Berekum Chelsea have obviously already won the league but l will congratulate Kotoko for this great comeback of closing in to finish among the top four.
The confidence of the 1970s is back for Kotoko to dominate the Ghanaian league once again, the performance of Kotoko nowadays doesn't surprise me much because the team is guided by a solution maker who can appoint a great personality in the person of K. K. Sarpong when Kotoko is in difficulty.
Otumfuo, K. K. Sarpong, management, entire team, and the teeming supporters of this great club, l say ayekooo but Sylvestre Asare Owusu, Alhaji Njie, Major retired Yaw Ampene Larson and other past administrations should learn from Dr. K.K. Sarpong. This is because their services might also be needed yet again in future by Kotoko.
Thank you. *
