Asamoah Gyan displayed a jaw-dropping performance with his musical band which kept former President John Kufour up late until the early hours of Wednesday.

The Black Stars captain wowed the audience at the State Banquet Hall with his flawless live performance in a ceremony to launch his band, the Asa Band.

Several dignitaries including former President John Kuffour and Ministers of the state could not help themselves to get onto the dance floor in appreciation of Gyan’s soulful performance.

The Shanghai SIPG marksman had achieved all the money and fame with his football career but now looks set to achieve a similar iconic feat with music.

Gyan has until now been only featured on hit Ghanaian tracks with his still missing friend Castro.

His maiden release, ‘African Girls’, released in 2010 topped musical charts in Ghana and ended the year with a host of awards.

This was followed up with ‘Do the Dance’ and several other hit tracks with the last being ‘Odo Pa’ before catastrophe struck with Castro, who is feared dead, still missing.

The launch of the Asa Band also saw the release of their maiden album titled ‘Fly Away’ – a mix of several genre of Ghanaian music.

Copies of the album on CD were auctioned alongside autographed footballs and jerseys.

Proceeds realized from the event is meant to be seed money to finance the ban

There were similar powerful performances from Trigmatic, Stonebwoy and Kwabena Kwabena but the night definitely belonged to Asamoah Gyan and his band with patrons leaving the Banquet Hall with an impression they will forever cherish.
