PLB Warns Against Fixed Matches

The Professional League Board(PLB)has warned clubs against match-fixing in the last games of the Premier League this weekend.In that direction, it has called on clubs to maintain sanity,discipline and seriousness as have characterised the competition so far.

Consequently, it has directed that all games fixed for Sunday should begin at exactly 3 p.m., cautioning that failure to comply with this directive will attract very serious sanctions.?The PLB will like to draw the attention of the clubs to the need to mainatin the level of sanity, discipline and seriousness which have characterised all previous matches.


In other words, there must not be any compromises or arrangements to fix a match,? a statement jointly signed by PLB Chairman, Mr W. Abra-Appiah, and PLB Secretary, Mr K. Ampim-Darko, said.The statement, however, congratulated all clubs for the comparatively less acrimonious competition this year?s has been, and praised the Executive Council, GHALCA, the Referees, Disciplinary and Appeals Committees and fans for their sacrifices and co-operation in seeing to the successful completion of the league.

For the referees, in particular, it assured them of the PLB?s preparedness to recommend outstanding performers for appointment at the international level.The statement also congratulated Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak for reaching the finals of the inaugural edition of the CAF Confederation Cup.


It alluded the performances of the two clubs to the high competitive spirit that has characterised the domestic league and which has enabled the two clubs to conquer Africa.
