Accra, May 17, GNA 96 The Ghana Handball Association in its bid to inject more excitement into the handball scene will in conjunction with its main sponsors Areeba organise a two week round robin event among some selected teams from 18th to 27th May this year.
A press release issued and signed by Saka Acquaye, Secretary General of the Association copied to the GNA Sports said the event, which is scheduled to take place at the Prisons Sports Complex in Accra will see four males and womens Clubs slugging it out for the ultimate.
The release said the male event will be among clubs from the Prison Service, Asomdwe , The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) and Fire Service whilst the ladies event will have Asomdwe, Fire Service, Police Service and Prisons Service competing.
By the pairings which will span for three days every week, the competition will start on Thursday, May 18 with a match between Police women and their Fire counterparts followed by the second match between Prisons Service (Men) and Asomdwe Club.
Friday May 19 will have Prisons (women) taking on Asomdwe Club in the second day=92s first match followed by a Prisons men=92s second match against the GAF team.
The first week matches will be rounded off on Saturday, May 20 with a grudge encounter between the ladies of Prisons and Fire Service after which the men of Fire will take on the Asomdwe club.
After a five day rest, the event will resume on Thursday, May 25 with Asomdwe Ladies club taking on Police women before the Men from Fire Service take on their GAF team.
Friday, May 26 fixtures will have Asomdwe Ladies sorting things out with their counterparts from the Fire Service while the men=92s GAF team square off against their Asomdwe men. The last day=92s round of matches on Saturday, May 27 will have another grudge encounter between perennial rivals, Police against Prisons women to be followed by another uncompromising encounter between Prisons men and their Fire counterparts.
