Eighteen year-old Joshua Palm from the Emit Electronic Institute last Sunday night became the unlucky team mate to be shown the exit in the MTN Soccer Academy Skuulz Challenge 3, as the soccer reality show nears its Grand Finale.
The build up to the penultimate Show had seen a lot of mixed feelings as previous evictions this season seemed to have made a clear statement that it was perhaps far from the usual predictions characteristic of many reality shows.
Thus, the eviction of Palm, though shocking, was comparatively met with somehow better composure by both the Fans and the Player himself.
The eviction of Palm sets the stage for the definitive face-off which will now see the remaining six team mates battle for the ultimate trophy and the crowning of the eighth winner of the longest running soccer reality show.
The Champion, aside the compelling prize package, also automatically becomes a member of the coveted MTN Soccer Academy Hall of Fame.
In the night’s five a-side match, the team mates sealed their unbeaten record as they pulled off their final win against Accra based Tudu All Stars.
The game, which ended 2-1, saw commendable cohesion in the play of the team mates which earned them two goals in two beautiful strikes from Ayine, team mate #6 and Owusu, team mate #1. The visitors, however managed to pull a goal back in a splendid strike from the centre circle.
Ayine was adjudged captain of the House, his second in the competition.
The night’s musical performances featured great acts from Akoo Nana and David Kiss who sent the Fans agog with their captivating lyrics.
With the final showdown just two weeks away, one needs not to be told of the critical stake that the votes of the public hold in determining who becomes the eventual winner.
Fans are therefore urged to power their favourite team mate to win the ultimate by texting his number to the short code 1584 on MTN and all other networks. The Grand Finale Show comes off on the 11th of April.
