Panasonic unveils new deal for Liberty

Accra, August 2, GNA 96 Kumesh Ghana Limited, dealers in Panasonic electronic products on Wednesday, unveiled an 880 million cedi sponsorship package for Premier League side, Dansoman-based Liberty Professionals.

The new deal makes the company the official sponsors of the Club and will display the brand name of the company on the front of their jerseys during the premiership. The new deal also makes provisions for players who will distinguish themselves in the 2006/7 premiership scheduled to kick start on August 20 as part of efforts to motivate the team to give off their best during the soccer season.


Announcing the package on Wednesday at a brief ceremony in Accra, Mr Raghavan, a Director of the company said there will be special awards for players in each match played in the 30 match league. According to Mr Raghavan, a win for the Club in home matches will see the best player carrying home a DVD player, whilst players who distinguish themselves in away matches pick a home theatre sound system. Drawn games at home matches will see the best player carrying home a ceiling fan with a rice cooker for away drawn matches.


Mr Ravaghan also announced that the company has earmarked 30 million cedis for the overall goal-king, best player and best defender of the Club at the end of the season. Each player in the above categories will be entitled to 10 million cedis worth of electronic products from the company. The Director said there will also be special prizes for members of the technical team and other staff members who will see to the success of the Club.

Mr Ravaghan said the company expects nothing but a championship title from the Club at the end of the 2006/7 soccer season. The occasion was also used to present prizes to outstanding players of the Club in the 2005 soccer season. Michael Helegbe was adjudged the Club's top scorer after scoring eight goals last season. For his prize, he took a 29 inch Flat screen television set and a home theatre.


Mustapha Essuman took home a double door fridge with a DVD player as the over-all best player. Mr Sly Tetteh, President of the Club expressed appreciation to the company for renewing its contract with the Club. He said this is as a result of the high level of professionalism exhibited by both parties. According to the President, his Club will reciprocate the gesture with consistent victories in the league to boost the corporate image of both parties.
