Panathinaikos eager to offload Michael Essien

Greek giants Panathinaikos are eager to offload Ghana star Michael Essien who is the highest-paid player at the club.

The Greens are keen to cut down on their budget and create the avenue to sign new players including Ghana winger Wakaso Mubarak.

Essien, signed from AC Milan last season, is the highest paid player at the club with an annual salary of 800,000 Euros.

Panathinaikos manager Andreas Stramaccioni is already looking for a replacement for the former Real Madrid and Chelsea midfielder.

Essien scored once in 13 Super League games for Panathinaikos.
