Ghana youth star Thomas Partey scored an outstanding goal to help his club Atletico Madrid beat Reus 1-0 to reach the last 16 of the Spanish Cup on Thursday night on his second start for the club this season.
The classic volley secured a 3-1 on aggregate win over Reus at the Vicente Calderon for a place in the tougher stages of the Copa del Rey.
Partey, capped just his second start for Atletico this season, hit the piledriver just after the break to settle the tie against the stubborn Catalan side.
Atletico striker Fernando Torres was searching for his 100th goal for the club but he missed a hat-trick of chances before the break and needed the intervention of the young Ghanaian to win the game.
Partey opened his scoring account for Atletico with a lovely volley from 20 metres out to kill any hopes of Reus comeback.
With this performance Partey will expect a starting place against Malaga this weekend to ensure they sit on top of La Liga at Christmas.
