Ghana international Patrick Twumasi is determined to build on the success he enjoyed in Kazakhstan after signing for La Liga side Deportivo Alaves.

The forward ended his four-year stay with Astana to join the Basque outfit on a four-year deal on Monday.

He'd previously featured for Latvian side Spartaks Jurmala and Russia's Amkar Perm.

"Moving from Kazakhstan to Spain is great and any player would want this because we all want to move forward in our careers," the forward told KweséESPN.

"For me, this is a positive step in my career, and I'm happy that the work I put in in Astana has been noticed in one of the best leagues in the world.

"I'd agree if you said that the Spanish league is above the Kazakhstan league," he added. "The Spanish league has some of the best players in the world, and it's the dream of every young player to move to such a prestigious league.

"The most important thing now is that I do my best and adapt as quickly as I can," Twumasi concluded. "It's obvious Alaves saw something good in what I was doing in Kazakhstan, and that's what I need to build on here."

The forward has been capped twice by Ghana, and will wear the number 24 at his new club.
