Division two side Patron Sporting Club have stepped up preparations for their much-anticipated European tour with series of friendly matches against some of the decent clubs in the country.
The team has been busy this week with two friendly matches, earning a resounding victory in one of them and sharing spoils against a team many predicted would walk over them.
Patron Sporting Club took on Bello FC in a well-patronized game at the Ashalley Botwe School Park on Thursday, July 12, 2018, thumping their opponents by two goals.
Striker Mohammed Musa finished off an excellent team build-up in the 40th minute to break the deadlock before Daniel Kobi Doku slotted home a penalty to cap off a dominant display by the team.
On Saturday, July 14, the team came up against a Black Stars select side that boasted of Bright Addei, Bernard Tekpetey, Muntari Tagoe and Kassim Nuhu at the Pantang Village Park. The odds were against captain Pablo and his colleagues who were coming up against a team made up of established players who have had the honour of donning the national colours.
The gulf in confidence was telling in the early minutes and by the 15th minute, the Black Stars were a goal up. However, captain, Pablo charged his boys who responded well with a series of attacks and were awarded a penalty in the 40th minute. The opportunity was however fluffed.
With momentum on their side, the players of Patron SC kept probing for the equalizer which proved elusive until the 75th minute when striker Eric Tenge scored a breath-taking goal to pull parity.
Eric Tenge’s brilliant strike was enough to give Patron SC a draw against a team made up of 6 foreign-based players.
The match was keenly contested albeit its status as a friendly with hundreds of supporters backing their teams.
The friendly games form part of preparations by Patron SC for their European tour which will see them visit France, Belgium and Norway.
They are expected to participate in some tournaments and play friendly matches against some of the top-flight teams in those countries.
