Accra Hearts of Oak midfielder Paul Acquah says the players understand the magnitude of their game with Kotoko to the supporters of the club.

Hearts and Kotoko will continue their age-old rivalry this Monday at the Accra Sports Stadium in the match-day 10 of the 2016 Ghana Premier League. The meeting will be the 103rd clash between the two sides with the Phobians shading the head-to-head by just two wins.

“Our match against Kotoko is the same as the Ashgold match or any other league game but we know what it means to the supporters so we will do our best for them on Monday,” Acquah told Hearts of Oak

“We can make a difference against Kotoko because we just ended another winless run at the home of Ashgold. We have not beaten Kotoko in Accra but this time, we have to end that run and get the win.

“We are grateful to the fans for following us everywhere; they should continue like that and keep us in their prayers, and we will do our best to give them victory after victory.”

Acquah returned from injury not long ago and has been involved the last three matches of the side. He missed a penalty against Samartex in the FA Cup but says he is using that disappointment as motivation.

“I have been out with knee injury but thanks to the board, I am fully well and back,” the winger said. “I got my first game against Samartex, and I came into the action in the second half, but I went on to miss a penalty.

"I was disappointed, but I did not let it worry me that much because I knew it could affect my performance in the next game. My hands are up; I missed the penalty and I felt sad, but I wanted to react as quick as possible.

“I think the missed penalty was a kick in the back side for me so I tried to give my all against WAFA and I am happy I did the same in the Ashgold game.

"We had gone four games without a win prior to the Ashgold game and so we did not want to disappoint. We are happy to have recorded the win and we are looking forward to the Kotoko game.”
