Kumasi, (Ashanti Region) 16 Oct. Mr. George Adusei Poku (GEORGIDO), has been appointed Chief Executive of Kumasi Asante Kotoko football club. Georgido's appointment followed peace talks between him and Mr. Kwaku Aboagye-Agyei (MAXIBILLION), chairman of the Board of Directors of Kotoko, brokered by the Asantehene Otumfuo Opoku Ware the Second at Manhyia. Announcing this at a Press Conference in Kumasi today, Mr. Aboagye- Agyei said Georgido will therefore submit members of his management team to the Board for approval as soon as possible. He said at the end of the settlement, the Asantehene warned the two of them that they would be dismissed if Kotoko should lose the first three matches in the forth- coming premier football league. He said efforts are being made not only to build a stadium at the club's playing grounds but also to acquire a new bus. On allegations that the Board has sacked the old players, he said, at no time did the board sack any player and asked them to report for training immediately in preparation for friendly matches lined up for the club. Mr. Aboagye-Agyei said the board has contracted coaches Ibrahim Sunday, Osei Marfo and Oti Akenteng to evaluate the team and make recommendations to it. The board will operate strictly in line with the constitution and present effective strategies that will usher the club into the 21st century. It will also take immediate steps to re-organise the circles to make them more viable and beneficial, he said, and assured all wings of Kotoko that the board has no intention to engage in witch-hunting but will work towards uniting all factions of the club. Mr. Aboagye-Agyei, therefore, appealed to the supporters to co- operate with the board and pledged that their doors are open to any supporter, who needs clarification on issues he does not understand. He expressed the board's appreciation to the Asantehene for the confidence reposed in it.
